What is Pregnancy Harassment?
You cannot be harassed because you are pregnant, have recently given birth, or have a medical condition related to pregnancy or childbirth.
Pregnancy harassment occurs when someone’s conduct towards you is offensive because of your pregnancy, recent childbirth, or medical condition related to pregnancy or childbirth. Pregnancy harassment is illegal when it so frequent or severe that it creates a hostile work environment. The harasser can be your supervisor or manager, a supervisor or manager from another department, a co-worker, or someone who is not even an employee, such as a vendor, customer, or client.
Harassment may be physical, verbal, or written and can include offensive or derogatory comments, jokes, gestures, cartoons, or pictures related to pregnancy.
